Strengthening governance is about changing mind-sets of people in leadership positions and helping them recognise and accept their role in leading community driven development. The Community Development worker has a pivotal role in helping people in governance positions to understand the principles and practices of good governance. They facilitate leaders to rethink their roles and relationships to the community; and develop new skills (planning, decision-making, monitoring, negotiating, problem solving, and conflict resolution) to support their leadership roles and ways of operating.
